Root Level Domain Setup - Custom Domain

1. Log in to the Swag Space dashboard and navigate to Settings.

2. Scroll to the section Store Preferences and click Connect Custom Domain.

3. Type in the domain you wish to connect and press Next. You don’t need to add https:// or www.

4. Swag Space will give you a list of DNS records that you need to add to your third-party domain provider settings.

In a new tab log in to your domain provider account and in the DNS settings create the following records:

Record type: A
Name: @
Data: 3.138.132.61
TTL: leave default value

Record type: A
Name: @
Data: 3.140.109.68
TTL: leave default value

Record type: A
Name: @
Data: 3.20.3.4
TTL: leave default value

Record type: CNAME
Name: www
Data: your custom domain name
TTL: leave default value

Note: if your DNS provider doesn’t allow creation of multiple type A records you can just create one of three presented by the app.

Here are a few examples of the procedure of editing DNS records with different domain providers:

GoDaddy.

1. Click on Domains in the sidebar and press Manage DNS next to the domain you wish to connect.

2. Check if you have any existing type A records with name @ and delete them. Also delete CNAME type records with name www if it exists.

3. Press Add New Record.

In the section that appears, fill in the Type, Name and Value fields with values from Swag Space dashboard. Press Add More Records to add all needed records in one action.

Press Save All Records.

Namecheap.

1. Click on Domain List in the sidebar and press Manage next to the domain you wish to connect.

2. Click on Advanced DNS.

3. Check if you have any existing type A records with name @ and delete them. Also delete CNAME type records with name www if it exists.

4. Press Add New Record.

In the section that appears, fill in the Type, Name and Value fields with values from Swag Space dashboard. Press Add New Record to add all needed records in one action.

5. Press Save All Changes.

5. Return to the Swag Space dashboard tab and press Verify Connection.

It may take 5-10 minutes or even more in some cases for DNS settings to update. If you see a message that settings have not been updated yet you can leave the page and the platform will trigger SSL certificates generation automatically once the settings update.

Otherwise you will see the following message:

You can press Finish at this point. Swag Space will create SSL certificates in the background and send you an email once the domain setup is complete. Your store will automatically become available under your custom domain. All traffic to the default domain <yourstore>.swag.space will then automatically redirect to the new domain name.
